! phew finally  my internet works properly. But I shall instal everything, oh my!! from Skype, even I don't use that often only for language learning purposes, my YM, and everything. On Sundays, I watched a movie on TV about a boy, who lives in a remote area in Papua. There is no such thing of schools in remote areas in Papua. Schools aren't considered being the most important things in life. You life, you grow up for your tribe, your family, that's all that matter.

Denias, the Papuan boy, has strong will to "break" the old tradition that says the boy in remote areas life for his tribe, and family; he wants to achieve career, he wants to go to school to study. He struggles to get ahead in life, to be accepted in a school. This story is based on a true story of Papuan boy, who is now has successful life, and good education.

This movie, to some people, is considered idealistic, hmm, I skip the question whether or not it is.

Apart from the story, I like the settings, which take place in a remote area in Papua; so beautiful. In one of the photos, you can see rainbow, right? This reminds me of the rainbow I saw here in Surabaya a couple days ago after a short rain. Sadly! I did not take my dcam with me.

I don't want to spill the bean, but some lines in the movie are indeed funny ( well according to Indonesians) - as I have written somewhere in this blog that comedy is interpreted differently by people, especially those who don't share the same languages.

Ini scene favor saya

Denias : Pak, maaf, bisa tolong saya!

TNI      : Iya

Denias : Taukah Bapak, Maleo. Saya ingin bertemu dengan Maleo

TNI      : Ada banyak Maleo disini. yang mana?

Denias : Maleo guru saya

TNI      : Ya siapa namanya?

Denias :Maleo

Ternyata Maleo adalah nama kesatuan TNI

Well, I guess this blog is just a reopening blog of mine after some times I had been dealing with the broken hardware, and connection!.

Okay, meanwhile let me sing today's theme song. If you know the song, let's sing! dare to doit?

"Somewhere over the rainbow way up high. There's a land  that I heard of once in a lullaby"

Blog EntryA Little Girl's Mind - Inspirational StoryAug 6, '07 11:51 PM
for everyone
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Saudara sebangsa setanah air, and my friends, the story below was chosen as today's inspirational story; the story, which I wanted to share.

Suatu hari, seorang guru sekolah dasar meminta para muridnya membuat daftar  tujuh keajaiban dunia dimasa kini menurut pendapat mereka.

1. Taj Mahal

2. Tembok Raksasa Cina

3. Grand Canyon

4. Piramida Mesir

5. Empire State Building

6. Basilika Santo Petrus

7. Terusan Panama

Disaat anak lain ramai berkomentar, seorang anak gadis terdiam termenung seakan bingung akan jawabannya, kemudian sang guru bertanya "Apa yang ada dalam daftarmu? apa kamu mengalami kesulitan?", sang anak menjawab "Iya." kemudian sang guru mencoba membantu "coba sebutkan, nanti ibu bantu." Si anak bingung kemudian berkata "Bu  guru, saya pikir tujuh keajaiban dunia adalah;

1. Melihat

2.Mendengar

3. Meraba

4.Mengecap

5.Merasa

6.Tertawa

7.Mencinta

Suarapun menghening... hening sekali.

One day, an elementary school teacher asked her students to list 7 world wonders. Having listed them, the teacher asked them to mention 7 world wonders they had written. Each student had different opinion about his or her list, but they mostly got the same 7 world wonders on their lists, such as :

1. Taj Mahal         2. Great Wall of China     3. Grand Canyon    4. Pyramid  5.Empire State Building              6. Santo Petrus               7. Panama Canal

while the other students were busy discussing their lists, a little girl was very quiet. She was wondering about her list. Then, the teacher asked "What are on your list? do you find any difficulties?". She answered " Yes, I do Miss.". The teacher tried to help "Would you mention your list, then I will try to help you." The girl looked confused and seemed to be unsure " I thought 7 world wonders were about these :

1. to see

2. to hear

3.to touch

4.to taste

5. to feel

6. to laugh

7. to love

Moral values :

We often underestimate simple things around us. Nobody will be able to replace or rebuild those 7 world wonders mentioned by the girl, if they are gone. What's the most valuable thing in life can't be built by hands or even bought.

ReviewReviewReviewReviewThe Amazing World of ChildrenMay 28, '07 12:28 AM
for everyone
Category:Books
Genre: Childrens Books
Author:Enid Blyton
Ada 8 koleksi dan setiap koleksi ada sekitar 5 sampai 6 cerita pendek yang sangat bisa diambil hikmahnya oleh anak-anak (orang dewasa juga bisa). 8 koleksi itu aadalah;
1. Si Baby Ungu dan cerita-cerita lain - The Purple Pig and other stories.
2. Si Gadis Penakut dan cerita-cerita lain - The coward Girl and other stories
3. Monyet Mike - Mike the Monkey
4. Tommy Si Pengadu - Tommy the Bully
5. Tiga Permintaan - Three Wishes
6.Cermin Ajaib - A Magical Mirror
7. Si Gadis Kaya yang Sombong - The Rich and Arrogant Girl
8. Anak Dalam Cermin - Boys in the Mirror

Enid Blyton's books I have are simple ( the Indonesian version). The books I have only give simple illustration yet the stories are indeed interesting to read. There are many moral values can be taken from the books. The moral values are explained through interesting stories with great characters. The stories empower children to imagine the scenes and create their way of thinking related to the stories, so that the moral values can be absorbed easily and enjoyably. Then later, they are able to retell the stories. There are 8 mini collections of Enid I have.( the titles are listed above ; read above). Each book is added by at least 4 or 5 other stories.
Some stories written by Blyton are possibly to happen in a real life, yet some are just too imaginative, but I guess it does not matter that much since moral values such as the importance of respecting others, using time effectively, being thankful for what we have already had, being well-organized since young, having self-respect, being humble and many more are still kept in her stories. Reading her stories had given me so much pleasure that I felt like being in an amazing world.

I am not sure the books I have are republished since it has been such a long time that I have not found any in the bookstores here. Choosing reading materials for children is not an easy issue; choose books which you consider are appropriate for reading sources. It is all your decision. Be wise as your children are your treasure. Anyhow, I do hope this information will be useful.
